Subject: [DailyDialogue #347] As We Close

"A soul mate is someone to whom we feel profoundly connected, as though the communicating and communing that take place between us were not the product of intentional efforts, but rather a divine grace. This kind of relationship is so important to the soul that many have said there is nothing more precious in life. We may find a soul partner in friendship, marriage, work, play, and family. It is a rare form of intimacy, but not limited to one person or one form."

Thomas Moore, Soul Mates Dear Partners,

This is the last of the Daily Dialogue series.

I am tempted to write retrospectively, perhaps about the joys and disappointments that accompanied our attempt to produce a meaningful message every day for a year. What I most want to send is a message of encouragement.

I believe that Eddy and I are soul mates. We were not made for each other; we simply came together with a shared dream of a fulfilling partnership and a willingness to work with each other to reach for that. We have both experienced the dreariness of not connecting and the desperate pain of losing our dreams. Even now, we seek help and counsel in those areas where we would otherwise stay stuck or stumble.

We strongly believe that fulfillment isn't usually about finding the right partner so much as in finding what's right about our partners. We believe that the tools of the dialogue process, if routinely used, will help in finding the rightness in our partners and ourselves.

Thanks to all of those who have offered wisdom and comment to our writings. In the main, you were a source of inspiration.

Love,
Marty & Eddy
