Subject: [DailyDialogue #244] Checking it Out

"Please do turn your Daily Dialogues into a book!
You have such a great organizational strategy for the narrative--the alternating daily exchanges between each of you.
And the resonance between the rhythms of your daily lives, the currents of your honest relationship, and the lessons you have to share in developing love provide an integrated, multi-layered account."
- - A Daily Dialogue Reader
Eddy, I noticed that you appeared to change the topic in yesterday's Daily Dialogue. I thought we were having an e-mail dialogue on the subject of our different visions for the Daily Dialogue and its impact on our lives.
The previous day, I had tried to mirror your thoughts and understand your feelings about this topic. I was hoping that you would carry on with the dialogue process, so that readers can see how it goes when we find ourselves getting stuck on an issue. I was also hoping that it would soon be my turn to send on the topic since I have a few things to say about it.
Now I'm uncertain how to proceed. Did my previous message show that I understand you?

Experiment: When you feel a growing urgency to state your point of view, seek first to confirm that you have achieved understanding of your partner's point of view.

Affirmation: Excellence in communication, like excellence in anything else, takes time.
