Subject: [DailyDialogue #216] Purpose

"It is only through creating a Higher Life Purpose that we earn peace. It is our gateway to the higher self. It is the key to finding our own magnificence."
- Susan Jeffers

I sometimes think that money, relationship or a quiet home in the country will bring me a sense of fulfillment. I had focused on a goal of finding my lifetime mate for ten years. Almost everything I did was related to achieving that goal. Sharing my life with Marty over the last three years has brought me much pleasure.

When I begin to think that my relationship with Marty is supposed to fill me up, I recognize that there is something missing. Susan Jeffers says that our "Higher Life Purpose is about living our life from a perspective that is bigger than our life. It has a quality of outflow rather than acquisition."

To connect with our purpose, we stop asking "what am I getting" and begin to ask, "what am I giving?" As we focus on our purpose, our neediness diminishes and we are able to let go of our attachment to the outcome.

Experiment: Choose a life purpose with your mate. Examples from Susan Jeffers are: To learn and teach about love, to open my heart, to focus on giving, to own our magnificence and reflect it into the world, to learn and grow, to create a more loving world. When you face a choice, ask "which action would be a demonstration of our Higher Life Purpose?"

Affirmation: My life makes a difference.
