You don't always get what you want…
-- Bob Dylan
Tradition has it that birthdays are supposed to be special. I've had mixed feelings about celebrating my birthday. I don't like being reminded of aging, nor being the center of attention and I haven't thought of myself as someone who deserves the love and attention of others. On the other hand, it does feel good to receive a gift and attention from those I love.
In more recent years, it has become easier for me to apphrehend and ask for what I want. This year, I seemed to hunger for a break from the daily routine, a chance to drive our motorcycle through wonderful scenery on a brightly-sunlit day.
Eddy believes it is important to try to give me what I want on my birthday. She is very good at listening for what I want and trying to arrange for just that on my special day. I am blessed by her generosity.
Experiment: Encourage your partner to ask for a dream on their birthday.
Affirmation: I deserve my partner's love.
