Subject: [DailyDialogue #159] Smile
"There is no magnetism or charm in a dismal, bland, insipid life. A corpse never smiles, but why be a corpse when one is still living? Truly a little humor can do much for a person in many ways: It can break up the clouds and let the sun shine. Falling spirits are lifted by a walk through the Hall of Humor. It can rescue a person from the doldrums which mar the spark and vibrancy of life. It is possible for one to laugh himself or herself into a new outlook. "
- Leroy Brownlow
How many of us are having a "near life" experience? This morning I woke up and looked at Marty with a big smile on my face. He responded by letting me know how attracted he was to my smile. Laughter is an unusually powerful magnetic force. When a group of people are laughing, others turn their attention in that direction and want to know what is so funny.
Yesterday, I asked someone how they were doing. Their response was, "It was supposed to be sunny all week and it's not". In Portland, Oregon it tends to rain on occasion. If I let the sun affect my smile, I would look like I was dead much of the time. Last weekend I conducted a Saturday class. As we closed the seven hour experience with a gratitude circle, one of the participants said, "As I look around the circle at the smiles on all of your faces, I feel a warmth that is much greater than that of the sun outside."
Experiment: Take a walk with someone through the Hall of Humor. Rescue someone (including yourself) from the doldrums, and ignite a new outlook through laughter.
Affirmation: I am a magnetic field of energy attracting laughter into my life.
