Subject: [DailyDialogue #157] Imagination

"Let us be of good cheer, however, remembering that the misfortunes hardest to bear are those which never come." - James Russell Lowell
What if the sky falls? I tend to be very good at imaging the worse thing that could happen. Enduring this worry creates headaches and tension about things that are created in my imagination.

I created a mental image of students reacting negatively to a training I was recently conducting. What I focused on expanded and I began to react to those images as if they were occurring . I then found myself somewhat panicky. The actual experience of the training was that the group gave me numerous compliments about the wonderful job I did.

We can either listen to the voice that multiplies the horror or listen to the voice that moves us beyond our fear. Our imagination can give us the world or cause us to remove ourselves from the world of possibilities. Imagination created jet-propulsion, atom-splitting and penicillin-curing. What is your imagination creating?

Experiment: In dialogue with your partner, describe your mental images of a fulfilling day.

Affirmation: I am creating what I dream I can become.
