Subject: [DailyDialogue #143] Risking

"Risk! Risk anything! Care no more for the opinion of others, for those voices. Do the hardest thing on earth for you. Act for yourself. Face the truth."
- Katherine Mansfield
When Marty and I first began writing the dialogue, I was afraid to be too vulnerable with my writing. I would write my entry every other day as we had agreed and quickly broadcast it by email before he had a chance to proof it. I think I was afraid that he would disapprove and want me to make changes. I was afraid of not being good enough.

The result was that without the benefit of collaboration, I made mistakes in spelling, errors that could have been caught by his objective proofreading. Over time, I felt safe to risk sharing my writing with Marty before it is broadcast. I feel more open to his comments.

My fear of conflict or worry about Marty's opinion of me creates an inferior product. I am facing the truth and doing what is hard for me.

Experiment: Dialogue about what is hard for you to do because of your fear of other's opinion. Commit to taking a risk.

Affirmation: I am acting for myself and risking.
