Subject: [DailyDialogue #140] Gender Differences
Through understanding and remembering that men are from Mars and women are from Venus, we begin to interpret our partners behaviors and responses in a new light. The old war between the sexes hecomes
instead the misunderstanding of the sexes. Something very magical takes place in our relationships; our hearts are filled with the warm glow of forgiveness and inspired by a new sense of power to realize our hopes and dreams. -- Dr. John Gray, Mars & Venus in Love Dr. Gray has made a fortune with his readable books about the differences between men and women. He teaches that understanding gender differences helps us have better relationships.
I fear that this popular teaching is commonly misinterpreted. It's too easy to see Dr. Gray as offering support for the continuance (perhaps even emphasis) on differences between the genders.
I'm heartened to read scientific research that suggests that "gender differences diminish as both individual share hurts, aspirations, and problems." (Durana, 1998)
Experiment: Dialogue about how you've become more like your partner over the time you've been together.
Affirmation: At some level, we are one.
