Subject: [DailyDialogue #117] Inner Game
"What you see with your eyes shut is what counts." -- Lame Deer, Sioux Medicine Man
In the dance with my partner, I am constantly reminded of how much my inner life affects my outer performance. A variety of thought-forms will interfere with the dance. One is, "you're not doing it right."
In Tango dance class, I occasionally encounter a partner who makes it her mission to teach me how to dance. When preparing to practice a step, this partner will usually ask, "do you have it yet?" I usually say, "I think so." Usually this partner isn't happy with my rendition of the step and may use a technique of repeating instructions in my ear with increasing volume. It's hard to concentrate on the dance with such a partner.
What works is for us both to concentrate on performing our own parts to the best of our ability. So it is in the dialogue.
Experiment: Enroll in a dance class with your partner and notice how it increases your sensitivity to each other.
Affirmation: I am giving my full attention to the dance with my partner.
