Subject: [DailyDialogue #91] A Surprise
"Dialogue is the trend of the new millenium. We foresee its application in homes, businesses, negotiating tables, and courtrooms all around the world. It brings people together, and encourages growth and development in the midst of conflict." -- President Bill Clinton
We were surprised when the call came in from Hillary. We hadn't noticed that first.lady@whitehouse.gov had appeared on our the dailydialogue e-mail list.
"Hi, this is Marty," I said, as I answered the phone.
"Hi, this is Hillary Clinton," she said.
"What a pleasant surprise," I said.
"I've been reading the dailydialogue, and I wanted to ask you if you do workshops for groups," she said.
"Sure," I said.
"Would you be interested in coming to Washington to do one for us?" she asked.
"Sure; How many people are involved?" I asked.
"About 150 of our closest staff," she said.
"Will you and the president be involved?" I asked.
"No, we're believe that dialogue techniques can transform the way our staff works together, and that it would change the process too much if we were involved," she said.
"Oh," I said.
"You'll be receiving a call from my personal secretary to arrange all the details..."
Experiment: With your partner, dialogue about the reasons you have for not engaging in dialogue.
Affirmation: We are enjoying the foolishness of yet another April fool's day.
