Subject: [DailyDialogue #85] Failure

I cannot give you the formula for success, but I can give you the formula for failure, which is: Try to please everybody. -- Herbert Bayard Swope

Starting my own business is hard work, both physically and emotionally. I don't know how to do it. It's apparent that pleasing everybody is a formula for burnout. It's apparent that overselling my product will simply create cynical customers.

I try to be honest and call a spade a spade, and most of the potential business goes to the competition, seemingly to pay more without getting more.

My spiritual teacher says that the answer is in connection to my spiritual source. "When I'm connected," he says, "my appointment book fills up and people come in for my treatments. When I stop my practice of meditation and connection, people start cancelling and the phone stops ringing."

I don't know what any of this has to do with dialogue, maybe you can make the connection.

Experiment: Dialogue with your partner about an area that you are feeling as though you have failed.

Affirmation: I am experiencing my failures as a reminder of my need for spiritual connection.
