Subject: [DailyDialogue #71] Callings

"The small number of people that constitutes our individual circle of acquaintances exerts a disproportionate leverage on us, and the stinging nettles of their rejection and disapproval are often more than we care to tempt. All we want from them, all we ever wanted, is their love and approval, but when it comes to being true to ourselves, this very need for love turns against us and becomes the vehicle of our subjection." -- Greg Levoy, Callings

Listening is hard work. It's especially hard for me when my partner hears a calling that I don't understand, that might threaten my comfortable life-style, or make changes in my version of our plan.

Yet, it's my sacred role to help my find my partner find the words to explore her callings and perhaps give life to them.

Experiment: Dialogue about a life-work nudge you've felt.

Affirmation: Our partnership supports us in pursuing our callings. The Daily Dialogue is published each day of 1998 by e-mail. Copyright 1998, Eddy Brame and Marty Crouch, All rights reserved.
