Subject: [DailyDialogue #57] Did I Love Well
"To see the preciousness of all things, we must bring our full attention to life...As the qualities of presence and simplicity begin to permeate more and more of our life, our inner love for the earth and all beings begins to express itself and brings our path alive." Jack Kornfield
I'm writing on Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, a Christian tradition involving 40 days of partial fasting and other forms of self-restraint prior to Easter. A fitting day for meditating about how I might experience more of life by slowing down.
We've both been very busy lately, trying to squeeze more productivity into our days. I've noticed that I'm impatient to finish with our morning dialogue so I can start work and make progress on my projects. I noticed that you declined my offer of a late evening walk and we were unable to fit in together-time to discuss a leisurely together-time to discuss our class today. I'm realize that I'm sacrificing our aliveness on the alter of productivity and progress.
Experiment: Schedule some time this week to do nothing with your partner.
Affirmation: We find ourselves most loving as we bring our attention into the present moment.
