Subject: [DailyDialogue #346] Turning Towards

"When we turn to one another for counsel we reduce the number of our enemies." - Kahlil Gibran I cherish my friends who have remained supporters for over thirty years. Even though I moved from the Midwest to the West Coast and lost contact with friends for as many as ten years, my spirits were recently lifted when we reunited. It was very powerful to know that these friends have continued to love me no matter what. They love with the heart of the child they once were.

What I loved most about connecting with friends over the holidays was when they shared their sorrow as well as their joy. It was wonderful to exchange thoughts and feelings with women I had trusted since I was a child. They knew me without the many masks I had learned to wear.

What I liked least about the holidays was the times I felt separate from others. These were times when my opinion was not heard or validated. It was when others kept their feelings guarded and private.

Experiment: Dialogue with your partner about what you liked most and least about your contact with others over the holidays.

Affirmation: I am turning towards others by sharing my true feelings and by validating the feelings of others.
