Subject: [DailyDialogue #320] Mindfulness

"Magical power, marvelous action! Chopping wood, carrying water."
- A Chinese Zen Master
There is magic in each moment. Each second, we have an opportunity to make a choice that will make a difference about how our day and ultimately how our life will go. When we decide to create an enjoyable moment in the present rather than waiting until the work gets done, we begin to live. We could wait until we retire to enjoy ourselves or we can experience the rich rewards of each moment now.

When Marty and I are dialoguing, I often find myself lost in my own thoughts and feelings, wanting to share them and be validated. Marty is such a great listener, I yearn for the wonderful non-judgmental acceptance he communicates as he mirrors, validates and empathizes with me. When I place my attention on how I might support Marty in sharing, I bring more balance and harmony into our relationship.

Experiment: If you speak more than you listen, count to 60 before you begin speaking. Practice mirroring when the speaker pauses and then count to 60 again to see if they have anything else to say before you validate and empathize.

Affirmation: I am creating a marvelous life by giving a magical moment of listening to my mate.
