Subject: [DailyDialogue #243] Hiding
"Society is a masked ball, where every one hides his real character, and reveals it by hiding." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
A truly heart opening experience for me was attending Kenny Loggin's concert last Friday night and Kenny and Julia's workshop the next afternoon. They believe that to create "big love"(a love with life and trust, free from the past) and move into the unimaginable life, we need to do one thing. That one thing is to tell the truth.
They say that "truth is the expression of love and is therefore always the necessary healing and loving action. When we don't tell the truth, it drives an invisible wedge between us and our lover. " Of course, one of our greatest fears is if we tell the truth, we will be abandoned. The opposite seems to be more true.
Julia and Kenny also say "there is no bad self". This is the part we want to hide from others, our shadow. What most of us want more than anything is to be ourselves and still be loved. I loved hearing Kenny and Julia share their difficult times and seeing that they were able to work through them.
Experiment: Share with your partner a part of yourself that you have been hiding.
Affirmation: I take off my mask and reveal my Self.
